A hammer arrestor is a plumbing device designed to absorb spikes in water pressure. It consists of a chamber filled with air that will compress when a surge of water is introduced into the water line. An indication of water hammer is clanging or noisy pipes and perhaps fluctuations in water pressure.

The tank heater is a device used to heat the water in the tank. It is quite similar to the heating elements found in common household appliances, such as water heaters, ovens, and clothes dryers to name a few.
